93 Hatch Won't Open

93 Hatch Won't Open
My hatch won't open all of a sudden. I can hear a slight click when I depress either the door or the console switch.
Do these solenoids go bad?
Is there a way to open the hatch to facilitate working on the latch/solenoid?

Just below the center of the latch you will find, after a search, a 1/8" cable that is the emergency latch release.
It will probably be on the passenger side.
It may be hidden under the rear trim so will take a little looking for.
Pair of needle nose pliers could come in handy.

Not sure about the 93 but my 85 has a solenoid under the back plastic deck trim to the right of the latch. A member with an 87 said his was on the left. There may be two back there one for the latch and one for the radio antenna.
