ok i put new fuel pump in and now i have 45lbs at the fuel rail. Started this monster up and it started to idle at 500 and when i stepped on the gas it awoke like never before. I took it down the road and this is the most power i've had in the four plus years i've owned it. I'm going to drive it around this weekend and see how it reacts staying close to home until i'm sure it's fixed.
I really need to thank you guys especially 87 vette 81 big girl and okie C4. You guys went above and beyond and saved my butt as i said earlier i'm retired and don't have a lot of money to throw away. This forum is awesome only because we have guys like you willing to help us none mechanics out. I will update after i drive it this weekend. Thanks everyone
Oh yeah the tires WERE smoking

You are welcome.

I had fun helping you out.

When I stop to think I helped you out with Okie C4 from 2,000 miles away here in Illinois..........

That makes me feel better I did / we did you much good this past week.

Way to go, James!!

All of us are here are glad to help and share the knowledge we've gained over the years...

Sounds like you may be in the market for rear tires after the weekend..

We look forward to the update!

well heres an update after driving about 100 miles this weekend. It seemed to run really well and when i would nail it it had great response. The only problem that i noticed was sitting at a stop light the idle would pulsat between 500 and 600 rpm. I don't know if this is something that should concern me or just ignore it for now. I'm going to put a few more miles on it this week and see what happens. If all is well my next project will be new shocks. Again thanks to all for the help and advice.

I put a few more miles on my vette and it seems to be running a lot better. The idle has pretty much settled down to 600 RPM while at a light. Every so often it goes down to 500 and then right back to 600. Again I need to thank everyone for their help. My next project will be shocks so if anyone has any suggestions please advise.
thanks to all

im sorry if you have done this already as i didnt read the whole thread, but for your idle have you checked/cleaned/reset the idle air control valve? its on the passenger side of the throttle body, theres several threads on how to do it. also, check your egr valve function as this can cause an erratic idle and as for shocks bilsteins are the way to go, install isnt too bad i just did it last weekend in a couple hours with some wrenches and a scissor jack. good luck!
