I am trying to install my Super ram and I am a bit confused. I know all the short cut to make it easy to install. Do I have to cut my plastic vacuum lines? Do I have to modify the cables? Anyone know of a web site that shows you what is needed? As you can tell I didn't get any directions. There there is that cold start injector, Plug kit?
you dont have to cut the plastic vacuum lines; the ports are roughly in the same place. You may have to twist them a bit. I replaced mine with rubber as the plastic had goten brittle after 16 years. Not sure what your question is on the cold start injector. the SR base has no provision for it and if your car had one, you will have to plug the fuel rail (rear drivers side). The cables should also fit w/o modification, however i have heard of problems using the bracket supplied by LPE. The stock bracket will not work w/o modification. Good luck work slow, think ahead, be patient!
Yeah, don't sweat the cold start injector setup. I don't know what the general opinion is on those things but mine had been removed by the car's previous owner. It also had a Super Ram at that time. Just had to crank the starter over for a little longer but it always started just fine, even in the cold.
Everything should mate up just fine. All the lines are near where were before, the throttle cables fit fine as well. I had no trouble with the bracket supplied by LPE. It worked just fine. Just remember to connect your IAT sensor before you bolt the plenum down.
Ok i took the cover off and there are two open hole in the bottom. Do they stay open? And i hear that the make a plug that goes over the cold start plug in? On the fuel rail
If you've got the Super Ram lower intake I believe it doesn't have any provision for the cold start injector but I could be wrong. There is a hole in the bottom of the plenum for the IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensor. This might be a good time to relocate it to the air cleaner housing. Plug it with an old IAT or a threaded plug. I think they're pipe threads.
There are a couple of cast-in passages in the plenum for EGR *I think*. Been a while since I messed with an SR.
