Default FSM says bad PCM - code 42

Thought my Delteq died (engine died on freeway and would not restart), so I replaced the ignition system with stock components. The engine fired immediately, settled into a nice idle, then a few seconds later started running real bad and the CEL came one (no codes earlier with Delteq).

Code 42.

So I followed the troubleshooting diagram in the FSM and I says I have a bad PCM.

Are there any other things to look for, or is it really this cut-and-dry in this situation?

I don’t think you can get accurate results unless one is dead, dead, dead, but go for it.

Go buy a new one, substitution is the best test. It's not that expensive and not bad to have a spare ICM anyway.
