OK,THis is a strange one. Sometimes when im driving with the top down the top hatch cover comes unlocked.IT does it at will. When I start the car or turn the key on I hear the top electric locks click. IT does not do it all the time. Is this some sort of ground problem oooooor switch proble. This thing can come open then you have one hell of an air brake if the cover does not blow off. Any ideas what ti check here?
I would say if…….and your question does not fit your C4 car.
If you have a 93-96, it has the PKE system entry. The PKE has a hatch relay release in it and if the PKE receiver goes bad, it can cause unwanted hatch release events.
If you have an 01 as questioned here, then my info is unrelated to your car. But I see you have been in the C4 Forum so…….?
I never did think much of the PKE system. I'm glad that the PKE "clicker" that came with my '94 vert doesn't work. Those GM engineers can sure come up with some stupid ideas, such as the PKE system and the security system on the C5's....what a POS. I just use the key to unlock the doors as I did for over 40 years before the clickers were invented.

I would agree that the odds are the PKE receiver is misbehaving, opening the hatch at random. My LT4 coupe had the same problem.
