Half shafts....no.

The rear end dimensions changed slightly (1" or so) after 87. I think from 88 to 96 it stayed the same and 84 to 87 the same.

Half shafts ARE the same '84-96 ... I'm referring to the outer stub axles that fit into the hubs on the wheel end ... I'm aware that the wheelbase width changed , that's why I'm asking if anyone knows if the axles are different also .........

I know some later stub axels will have the ABS ring on them and early ones don't.

I don't know about the length.

Ok...I know that the rear end got 1" narrower those yrs....88 is when the wheel offset changed, signaling a change of some sort. I reaqd something about the change in rear dimensions a long time ago but cannot recall what exactly was done.
I was assuming that the difference was deleted in the halfshafts. I can;t really see the spindle shafts/yokes being shorter, but maybe thats where they did it.
