Default Other besides Del Teq?

Is there any other after market
Ignition out there?
Since the del Teq left me stranded again today and no one is home at del Teq I'm looking.

I don't want to go back to the
Opti spark.

I believe Delteq went out of business several years ago.

Does anyone live near them?

Anyway, that was my question.

If it were me, I'd go back to the Opti.
Optis DO work well for most folks. When they act up, they are dead. Not much inbetween, just junk. There are also many other parts on a Vette that will "down" the car if they fail.

Just make the modifications to help protect it...
make a splash shield to keep water/coolant from hitting it. I've seen everything from rubber to nice sheet metal gaurds. You can easily make something and fasten it to deflect any water. Water is the #1 cause of death in Opti-Spark distributers. Water pumps with a fitting in the weep hole and a drain tube is another way to keep water from leaking onto the Opti.

This is the exact reason that I advise people to avoid after market systems like complete ign packages...

The list of advantages is 90% placebo effect and the downside is kinda obvious...

whadda ya do when you need pieces? simple parts have to be ordered. whadda ya do when the mfg is not available or closes?

short answer...

Walk.

Optis are fragile, or can be. Its a precision piece of equipment that needs a little protection. As good or better than anything else out there...and you can go anywhere for a new one. JMO

If you absolutely refuse to go back to a regular Optispark then the Baily Engineering LTCC is your only other option.

Hey herb,
What is your Deltq installation doing? Did you go thru the diagnostic section of the manual? This could lead you towards either a bad Opti or Delteq Opti-Box. Just did a brand new Delteq installation on my 92 LT1. Fired right up after installation and runs great. I knew my Opti was good and with only a bad cap. I didn't want to spend a couple of days replacing the Opti.
Best of Luck,

Thanks for the info and links!
The problem is I never know what to expect.
One time it was breaking up so bad it sounded like all the plug wires were crossed.

Next time it would start and quit. Then start go a couple blocks and quit.
Wait a while then it starts.

Hey white corvette.

Where did you find a Del Teq?

Mine worked great for about 7 years!

Red light on Opti control does exactly what the manual says it should do.

I cranked it up and let it run for 30 min with the hood closed. No problems!

I hate when I can't figure it out.

It's a shame because I don't want to go anywhere in it because I'm afraid it will leave me stranded.
