Tempting fate by boasting, but idle seems smoother after removing and cleaning the IAC. The passage weren't too bad but the plunger head on the IAC was pretty dirty with deposits, if that matters. As for the TPS, removed it but it's a sealed one peice electronic sensor-- no way to clean it so I just put it back on... the plastic housing that contacts the throttle body rotational arm wasn't worn where the rotational arm fits it. I used Valvoline SynPower Carb Choke and Throttle Body cleaner, which states on the can safe for TB's and won't harm O2 sensors etc. Sprayed the throttle body interior and plates, etc also.
One thing: I didn't spray any cleaner down into the cylinder solenoid part of the IAC where the plunger shaft goes into. There was some noticeable carbon buildup on the spring so likely some carbon down in there but I wasn't sure if the cleaner might seep into the solenoid part by way of capillary travel down the shaft, and cause problems in there.
Also, the plastic cover that fits onto top of the Throttle Body with the 6 Torx screws wasn't on very tight. I took it off and inspected/cleaned the rubber gasket and re-installed, securing it a little firmer than it had been before.
Nice work. With all their excentricities these are geat cars.
Next time you do it, use a Q-tip with some TB cleaner (rolled tightly) to clean inside the IAC's pintel bore. Just be careful to not leave any threads inside.
