Overheating, running rich
I just replaced the water pump, thermostat, overflow tank, hoses and all else are good.
Now it is running rich, it is getting hot up to 250+, making bubbling noises. Previous code threw an "air injection" pump or something like that needing replacement.
Will that part cause it to run rich and warm?
I need to get it smogged this time around, but I also want to throw a triple air flow system on it if that would fly.
What is a MAP? 1993 automatic.....
I've read a map will cause these symptoms too.
Any insight would be appreciated. I have no leaks, no white smoke, no visible water issues. Just running warm, too warm.
Just wondering why all these items were replaced to begin with?
What indication to you have to make you think it is running rich? One side or both sides?
** MAP - Manifold atmospheric pressure, which is a sensor that measures the pressure in the manifold and converts it to a electronic voltage which is fed to the ECM. The ECM then uses this voltage input as well as the other sensor inputs to set mixture, timing and such for best engine performance.
