Default L98 Pistons.

Hey guys I'm new here. I have an 88 vette with the L98 aluminum head motor. My buddy with his 89 IROC has an L98. What I want know is, besides the iron heads, are there other differences with the motor. I am not entirely sure but I thought that I read the pistons where lighter? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum! :) The pistons in the 1985 Corvette were forged, the other L98 Corvettes (86-91) had hypereutectic pistons. His IROC has different exhaust manifolds, and probably a more restrictive intake manifold.

The blocks use the same part numbers, the Fbody should have a roller cam. I think the piston are the same (cast, from 86-89, hypereutectic from 90-92), but I am not 100% (fbody info is lacking) I haven't found really all that good of website for the small L98 changes in Fbodies.
