Default 1984 radiator removal

Just wondering if anyone has replaced their radiator in their 84?
I think after 27 years mine may be done. Not cooling as well as it should and now I have a leak and dont want to add stop leak.

Is this a job than can be handled by someone with some mechanical skills?
I would like to do it myself if I could rather than pay someone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its a fairly easy job, the only problem I had w/ the couple I've done is the tranny cooler line fittings get froozen in place. Lube 'em real good & use a flare nut wrench.

Also there are several small, think 7mm socket, screws holding the shroud in place. Some well hidden, that must be removed.

Good chance you've got 27 years of leaves, birds, debris, etc between the condensor and the radiator. Remove the shroud and maybe all you need to do is vacuum that area out.

Oh I did that 383.
I cleaned that out before. Did coolant flush, new thermostat etc.

I just dont think its cooling like it should anymore. Temps are now getting above 225 and not coming down much. Some days I wont drive it because its to hot out.
I had a leak a while back also. Its time i think.
I am looking at getting a all aluminum on with aluminum core.

Its worth it. I dont mind doing it.
I am sure that old radiator has seen its days.

I replaced the radiator on my 84 about a year ago. It was the original and had a leak somewhere. The job is tedious but not that difficult. I replaced it with a Rock Auto radiator for about $100, if memory serves, and it does quite well in a South Carolina summer. A high grade aluminum replacement would be nice, but in my case, this was not necessary.
