Default Replace Input bearing in 6 speed

My 6 speed tranny input bearing is making some noise.

How hard is it to replace?

I've replaced them on 3 and four speeds before, 40 years ago.
Is this transmission similar in that manor?

Are you talking the throw out bearing?
unobtanium - however if you find one new without buying the whole clutch kit let us know!

IIRC the tricky part is the corvette is a pull type clutch, those older ones were push type.

I'm talking about the bearing on the input shaft.

The shaft in the transmission that goes through the clutch disk.

Mine seems to be a little noisy and I want to replace it before it does something bad.

there is a (solid) pilot bearing that sits on the nose of the input shaft and there's a (smaller bearing-filled) throwout bearing that presses on the pressure plate to disengage the clutch.

You're probably talking about the later?

If so...The response about unobtanium would be your relevant reply.

I'm talking about the bearing that sits inside the transmission on the input shaft. It's usually about 4 inches in diameter.

On other transmissions I've worked on it's pretty simple to R&R that bearing, but on others it's not easy at all.

Ralph

I did not realize that the throw out bearings and pilot bearing were so hard to find outside of a complete kit.

Inside the transmission? You're talking about an internal bearing for the transmission? If so, I'd contact the ZFDoc to source that.

Or, take it to a bearing supplier.
