Wrongo on disconnecting it there. The TV cable can be removed without dropping the pan. Disconnect the clip and slide the cable off the pin on the throttle body. Then you will have enough slack to lift the cable housing near the transmission, and you will find the real TV cable linkage there.
The connection at the bellcrank inside the pan area is a small wire about 2" long that connects to the TV cable.

Thanks for the info - I'll have to check the linkage tomorrow as I didn't see any when I detached the cable. Hard way or easy way, that darn cable is off at the tranny! :D

Ugh. That brought back too many bad memories. I had my pan off my 700R4 so many times the local parts store started stocking extra gaskets for me. :cry
I was never able to get the TV cable off without dropping the pan though. There isn't even enough room for me to get 2 fingers between the trans and the tunnel on my Camaro. Maybe there's more room on a Y-body.
