Hi everyone, my dad just bought a 1989 corvette. The turn signals on the right side blink really slow compared to the ones on the left side. When the four ways are put on everything blinks perfectly. Any suggestions on what it could be? I was thinking a relay? I looked but can't find the relay. I'm not real familiar with the C4 corvette's. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!
Sounds like you have a burned out bulb on the right side. The same flasher controls bot sides and there is a separate flasher for the 4-way. If you are going to troubleshoot and fix problems get a FSM. They are cheaper than 2 hours in a shop.
The turn signals do not use a relay. The flasher is under the right side of the dash and it works on current. Higher current, faster flash rate, low current, slow or no flashing. Turn on the turn signals and inspect the turn signal lamps, my money is on one lamp not on and is probably burned out.
Checked the bulbs, they are all working. I took the car for a drive, and noticed something. When the right turn signal is flashing and I had my foot on the break the lights would stop flashing. When I took my foot off the brake the lights would begin to flash again. Any ideas? Maybe a wiring issue?
I vote you have a wire backwards on one of the light sockets. Have someone look at the lights , while they are on 4 ways and your foot on the brake. the one that doesnt flash has the wires reversed or the ground disconnected. It will also be a bit dimmer than the others. could also be a burned out 'marker' light bulb. they are energized with the turn signals.

Your problem is a poor ground connection on the side that won't flash with the brake (not break) is applied. You should also notice that the brake light on the side that won't flash is lower in brilliance than the other side and this is due to a ground wire that does not have a low resistance connection to ground. Fix the ground and you will fix the turn signal problem.

I agree. I had similar problems in the past with my turn signals (not at the same time) until they eventually stopped blinking altogether. It turned out the ground wire connection inside the socket was corroded badly and eventually broke. I just replaced the entire socket and all is better again. The sockets don't cost much, less than $10 from O'Reilly as I recall. I soldered the wires to make sure they had a good connection and used heat shrink tubing to keep them watertight.
You can probably do a simple test by wiggling the ground wire (black wire) in and out when then turn signals are on to see if there is any change.
