Default relay on firewall

Does anyone know what the relay is for on the firewall behind the battery on a 1990 coupe 6spd auto climate control?

MAF relays are behind the battery. There should be 2. I have an 86 but I think they are similar.

That's the CAGS relay (computer aided gear selection).
1-4 skip shift relay used on the 6 speed manual transmission.

NOTE: This thread is from 2011

I would like to know the (correct) answer to this question too.
I'm currently in the process of eliminating some wiring around the battery. I just removed the original fan relay and now bumped into this.. and want it out of there.

It has 4 cables going to it.
2 go into that epicly stupid junction block by the battery.
1 goes into that main wiring loom on the left hand side of the engine bay which runs forward to the headlights. I believe it's black.
1 red cable goes to a circular-single-pin plug.

Edit: I forgot to mention it's directly under the bonnet-stop-holder thingo.. by the door.

I found a pic of it in this old(er) Corvette Forum thread

That's the one.
One guy says on page 2 "MAF burn-off relay" but I'm not sure which pic/post he's referring to.

I'm going to assume it's the MAF burn-off relay and remove it.

I suspect that is true.
My '88 has the two MAF relays in that location but your '90 is SD so no MAF relays.

Maybe someone with a '90 or '91 will pop in.

CAGS relay with VIN 8 is indeed in that location for '90 & '91.
