I have been having issues lately with my vette. Every now and then the car will die on me and the fan will click on and off while the key is in the on position. Cabin electronics are unaffected by this. When the car starts dying the engine power will be intermittent and will surge on and off. The car also gives a strong burning rubber/electrical wire smell. These symptoms happen more frequently when the car is hot during stop and go traffic but it is not always the case. Sometimes the car will also idle wrong, either too high or will die at a stop.
Most of the time the car runs just fine, these issues happen rarely and can usually be cured by letting the car sit for a while before restarting. I spoke with a local mechanic that I trust today and he thought it sounded like a computer issue. I will be taking it to see him this Monday.
Has anyone experienced these problems? Could this really just be a computer that is on its way out?
Ohm test your injectors when hot. If those are stock injectors, they might be responsible.
When injector resistance gets too low, it can knock out the computers injector driver and maybe the whole computer.
Worth the time, even if it's not the problem.
