I posted a question on 6/8 about my security/alarm system and the fact that it was flashing all the interior lights in sequence with the security light on the dash some of the time after cutting the car off - it does it some times but not every time. I got no response - so my next question is : Is there a simple, safe way to disconnect or bypass the security system?
I'm a new Corvette owner & have found this forum helpful & interesting.
this is a little simplistic, but the OE versions of the ignition key are short and 'wollow' around in the ignition switch, there is a tech sheet from GM bout this. if you replace your ignition key/switch with the upgraded/longer version, (it is visably longer
, and fits snug), it fixes the problem of the vats not reading the resistance and/or dropping the connection while running. the other way is to bypass the vats portion in the key with one of the bypas kits, and the last way is to reprogram the ecm so it no longer has vats function, hope this helps, bob
Securty light and vats have nothing to do with each other they are 2 different systems. The lights going off with the security light is connected. The secutiy light is just a reminder to arm the system. The only thing I can think of right away that may cause your problem is a bad ing switch or lock cyc. Off hand I cannot recall where the controller gets the signel that the key is off but it is one of the 2. This would explain why the car is dying and the light is flashing.
