Default LED bulb issue

I have replaced all 6 turn signal bulbs in my '90 ZR-1 with some lovely LEDs and already have an electronic flasher. They are a bit slower than the incandescent bulbs. As I understand it, most times the LED bulbs will flash faster since they present a lesser load to the flasher. I do not have that problem so I did not install load resistors.

The other issue is more important. Everything works as it should (stop, turn, and parking lights) until I try to use the turn signals with the parking lights on. They do not flash at all. Also, when the parking lights are on, the dash turn signal indicators stay lit. Once the parking lights are off, things are fine.

Has anyone run into this issue? It seems the opposite of what I find when searching.

Did you replace the front side marker lights with LED's? With the parking lights or headlamps off, the side marker lights flash with the turn signal lights. With the parking or headlamps on, the side marker lights flash opposite of the turn signals. This may be an additional load on the electronic flasher.

With the turn signals not flashing with lights on, it would make sense that the dash arrows will light up and not flash. The not flashing part is strange. That would indicate no load on the flasher. Maybe a bad electronic flasher. Is the flasher rated for a specific number of bulbs??

I have ordered bulbs for the front side markers, but as of now the incandescent bulbs are still there. I did not even consider that being an issue.

As for the flasher, it is electronic and fairly new (about 6 months) but that is all I know about it. I am going to research other flashers and see what I can come up with.

Thanks for the reply.

OEM flashers work on current. High current, faster flashing, low current, slow or no flashing. You can buy a heavy duty flasher meant for turn signal lamps added when using a trailer and these flashers do not work on load current. I suspect your electronic flasher requires some current and you may not have enough, OR... you have a poor ground connection on one or both parking light sockets. The turn signal lamp has another filament for parking and if you have a resistance ground, this reduces the voltage on the turn signal filament and thus reduces the turn signal current and stops the flashing on flashers that use current to work. You can tell if you have a poor ground connection by the dimmer than normal parking light and a better test is to measure the voltage on the ground wire from the socket with the parking lights on. It should be very low, less than 0.1 volt. If you use the search function for flashers with LED lamps, you should find a part number for a HD flasher that doesn't use lamp current to work. This has been a subject before. I'll see if I can find it. OK, I found it, you want an EL-12 flasher, but first measure the voltage on the ground wire from the turn/park lamp socket. Some members posted that their electronic flasher would not work with LED bulbs and several said the EL-12 flasher did work.
