Using a new download of Tunercat Pro RT to datalog and I cannot seem to get anything connected properly.
I went to a website and ordered a OBD1 cable with USB end, since the laptop has no serial ports.
I start the program, it finally finds the cable, says its connected to the ALDL, and tell it to log data....and when I try to look at it nothing is there. It doesnt show real time values on the screen, and though it says its recording, the CSV output file that I read into excel has zilch in it but a header to the file - no data.
I did everything in the help section on Tunercat, but still cant get it working right. Ideas? Other program to datalog with only a USB port? I couldnt get WinALDL to work at all on the laptop.
I'd have to get into my other laptop to look into it and Im not that familiar with logging in Tunerpro RT, I use it for burning chips. If you go to TTSpowersystems.com you can download Datamaster and use it 20 times for free. Its what I log with. Very user friendly and well worth the $100 or so that I paid for it after the 20 freebies. They have updated it to work with Windows 7 & and Vista and It should work with the cable you have.

OK, did that with Datamaster, same issue. I tried their ALDL connector software to make sure it wasn't just the cable, and it says the cable checks out.
It says its connected but theres an unknown data type, even though I downloaded the D32 for 86-88 L98s.
I believe Craig Marcho had to ditch the original chip for a new one when I had him change the fan settings years ago because it wouldnt take a program change.
You may need to try another. Its been so long, I semi-forgot about the Hyper one but I remeber not being to datalog with it. If you have a burner it would be pretty easy to download a bin and start with fresh burn. Then try to datalog. Is this for the new motor or, just getting ready for it ?
....... Next time you get it to the point where it does not recognize the data , close the small record aldl screen and re-open it ... make sure you choose a file and re-start the recording process ... unselect the com port then reselect ... you should get a pop-up regarding GM 160 baud then you're good to go .............. I'm assuming that you've downloaded a usb driver already ..............
I talked with the engine installer today and he had spoken with the chip maker earlier today.
He said for mine that he used the same program, TunerPro RT, and had to call Craig Moates for help on the chip itself. The installer didn't think that he did any datalogging because it idled perfectly already and the TC locking/unlocking was causing them more problems driving around than anything else.
He said something about an ARAP.BIN and $6E mask he had to use but I thought this was included in the Tunerpro RT file I used to open the data with. -- 1227165_6E, is the datastream definition Im using for this 86E car. There is also a 1227165-160baud, is that the one I should be using?
Then again I tried almost every permutation that WinALDL has in it without success. An email to TTS and the cable manufacturer have gone unanswered.
The 86 uses a $32B bin stock, same as my 87. ARAP with the 6E definition eliminates the cold start injector. I'm using a much modded version of the ARAP. The ARAP bin itself is not the problem. I'm thinking it will work at 160 baud but Datamaster will work at a faster rate. 8192, I think ? Try to open Datamaster, click on help and click "view log file". There may be something there to help.
Another thought, at least get a wideband O2 sensor hooked up if its going to be driven at all. Dont want to be running it if its real lean or reak rich. Be safe with that motor.

If you can get Craig moates on the phone he will probably point you toward a good wideband. I think his phone # is somewhere on his site. Link to his site below. A nice selection of wideband equiptment. He can probably tell you what you need to get datalogging going. The guy is very sharp.

You are probably correct. Ive had the 6E definition file a long time. Even before I started doing my own chips. I dont think the difference would effect this problem, would it ??????
