On the way home from work my convertible Vette. Felt like it was only running on 6 cyliders. Well I make an assumption that it was a plug wire or bad plug so after work today I changed all the plugs and chased the wires. Fired it up and it still feels like it is missing bad and has no power. No codes and it smells rich. Any ideas?

Id say check your cap and rotor.
At least you dont have to deal with a Optispark

Check timing and all plug wire connections, which you say you did, but double check at distributor cap and at plugs. If I don't makle sure it snaps on good, I have had the number 6 cylinder plug wire loose at the plug. I thought I had secured it but obviously didn't. Good Luck.
If this is a consistent miss (not a random miss) that follows RPM disconnect either a spark plug wire or an injector plug one at a time. If you disable a cylinder and there is no change in the engine sound that cylinder is not contributing to power.
With a mechanic's stethoscope you can listen to each fuel injector while the car is running and clearly hear the inside pintle slamming open and closed when it's spraying. Any silent injectors should be ohm checked. Spec is 16 ohms plus/minus a couple ohms. I got my stethoscope at Harbor Freight for about $5. It works great.
You can also grab a basic inductive timing light and connect it to each of the 8 plug wires one at a time. If there is spark going though the wire the timing light will flash. If no spark it will not flash. Did you replace the plug wires?
I would also look at the inside terminals of the cap as mentioned.
