Default Recommendations for MILD headers and CAM

Unplanned motor rebuild gives me the opportunity to replace headers and cam. Going back with stock bore and set up. Looking for headers that I can either use remainder of stock exhaust or budget exhaust - (also explain to me how I go from two 02 sensors to one and keep check engine light off). Also want a smooth idle mild cam. 1994 LT1 six speed

Currently your 94 has three o2 sensors. The one post-cat o2 can be eliminated, the two pre-cat sensors need to stay.

My first camshaft change was a Comp Cams 212/224 521/533 112 lsa, and it had a slight lope at idle. You may get a similar duration/lift camshaft with a 114 lsa that would have a pretty smooth idle. The 212/224 peaked at ~5800 rpms.

A fairly mild cam upgrade would be something like the Lt-4 hotcam (@0.050 219/228 ls 112), alot of guys switch to this cam because it increases power without messing with the streetability, its a good compromise.. I have a Erson 218/226.112 in my 89 and it has a slight lope, but is very street friendly....As far as headers , Headmen's are good and are the cheapest but there are many out there to chose from, my personal favorites are TPIS ceramics..With your 95 you can just have an extra 02 bung welded into the other header so you can run 2 sensors...WW

My single pattern cam sounds more like a stock idle than anything else I've ever heard. I'd recommend a 218 or 219 single-pattern setup to get that.

If you want a mild lope (with a bit more obvious idle), the hotcam is pretty hard to beat for your needs.

If he wants smooth idle something in the low-mid 2teens on the intake side would work well for him. Hotcam with a nice tune is manageable but Id consider it somewhat lopey.

You're not going to see big gains from long tube headers on a stock LT1. But, if you do decide on headers get ones that are LT1 specific, Exotic Muscle, TPIS, Stainless Works, ARH. Stay away from Hedman and Hooker.

Would you have a brand and part # suggestion?

Call Bullet. Explain your specific needs/goals. They are reasonably priced and straight to the source. Mine uses a lobe right out of the catalog on their website.

Or...a superram cam LPE-219
