Default 1986 tranny cable

My gas pedal seems to be a little hard to push. Ive replaced the gas cable and the gas pedal and its still takes a little effort to get the car going. Not a whole lot, but enough to make the car not fun to drive. I unhooked the Tranny cable or whatever the name of the cable is that connects next to the gas and the cruise control cable at the throttle. Now the pedal seems to work really nice like it used to. I only drove it about 30 feet to test it out and then right back up the drive way. Im assuming its the Tranny cable thats the problem or something that it connects to. Ive also tried adjusting it as per the factory manual. I bought a new tranny cable and i want to install it but i want make sure there wasnt anything else i should be replacing while I have the tranny pan dropped. I will be taking off the top of the engine and headers because im getting some powder coating done on the intake and recoating my TPIS headers because the old coating is flaking off and i have a coolant leak...........again. Is there anything on the tranny side i should be replacing while i put a new cable in? Id hate to have to drop the tranny pan and forget to replace something simple. The engine and tranny seem to work fine other than the hard pedal push. the tranny was rebuilt about 20 thousand miles ago but it took me about 4 years to add that mileage. I have four other cars so i dont really remember when this issue started or if it was progressive because i dont really drive the vette.

1986 coupe with automatic tranny
lingenfelter manifold and intake
383 stroker engine with 30pd ford injectors
3:54 gears

any suggestions on where to take headers to get recoated? Im in the San Diego area
