I just ordered a replacement headliner from Ecklers for my 89. I'd like to do the job myself but can't find anything on how to remove the old/replace with the new. I assume it's held in place with clips of some kind, but I need a tutorial. ;-) Any help will be appreciated!
the foam based fabric is glued to the top, dont see how velcro would work, just did this last week....read that other post, seems there's a couple of versions of c4 headliner.

So in essence, the cardboard is just glued on the top? I believe I'll go the velcro route.
Yep. So instead of gluing it back, I just put pieces of velcro on the back of the board and in the top (so if I ever have to do it again, I don't have to pry the cardboad off the top again).
If I remember correctly, the board kinda snaps in place into the top, even without anything holding it place. But I didn't want to chance it driving and the board falling down. So the velcro seemed ideal. Obviously you can glue it if you prefer.
Now you WILL have to glue the fabric to the board, but once done with that, the board (w/ fabric on one one side) simple velcros into the top!
Once you get started, it will make much more sense.
As for how long it will last - I did mine in early 2007 I believe, and as of yesterday, it's still holding up!

What I ordered from Eckler's, at least based on the picture, should be a new board with the material already glued on. All I should need to do is take the old one off and put the new one on.
