WENT TO PUT ON HEADLIGHTS A COUPLE NIGHTS AGO AND MY HEADLIGHTS OMLY WENT UP HALF WAY. tHE CAR HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN MUCH AND AT NIGHT AT ALL THE LAST FEW YEARS. iT IS A 89, WITH 44,300 MILES. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Look at the DIY sticky. In it will be a link to a post about rebuilding headlight motors.
Use that post to replace your bushings in the motor and they will work fine afterwards.
I used bushings from my local ACE Hardware-$1.50 for six (three needed for each headlight). Some have used bushings from Home Depot (part number used to be 3069987278) or Ford power window mechanism bushings (Advance Auto "HELP" section.
The nominal size I have scribbled down was 27/64 by 29/64. Which is length vs. diameter I don't recall.
Figure 45 minutes for each headlight. The second one goes faster!
