Default Transmission Time?

94 Coupe/LT1/Automatic/160K miles/ Original Transmission and Engine.

It's been hot lately - 90 to 100 degrees. On long trips with A/C on, occasionally, and just occasionally, after a stop - I hit the gas, the engine revs a bit, but no real connect to the tranny..... Then, slowly, it starts to engage, and after a bit, it's back to normal. This is the original tranmission, and never been rebuilt or anything. It's been 60K miles and about two years since last transmission service.

Is this a sign that a new transmission is in the works? Or would it just need to be serviced?

If anyone has any insights, it'd be appreciated.

Have you checked the fluid level and condition? After that, drop the pan and see if there is debris there

Default Transmission Service?

So, it might make sense to get the transmission serviced?

They would drop the pan.

Hopefully only the transmission filter rubber mounting grommet is worn out & sucking air in along with the trans fluid.

Worthwhile dropping the trans pan yourself & see what you find in the bottom of the trans pan & check that rubber filter tube mounting grommet.

That's exactly what happends if the fluid level is low.
