Default ls1 compatibility with 700r4

ive been reading alot about the ls1 being compatible with the 700r4, ive heard both no and yes if u have an adaptor. Has anyone done this in their c4 corvette? this is the adaptor kit, http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/cata...hp?ITEMID=7029

basically the question is how common is this swap? i know the 4L60 fits the ls1, but i got a built 700r4 i dont want to get rid of and i also know the possiblities with the Ls1 are ridiculous. any tips and posts would help. thanx

............. You just need to fab in a throttle body mounting point for the TV cable for the 700R4 ... most , if not all LS series motors fly by wire and you will need to come up with a way to mechanically activate the VERY important TV cable ... other than that ...it should be bolt-in .....

The LS1 is a powerfull engine in stock form.

The 700 R4 you want to use should have a "BEAST" reaction sun gear shell installed.

I would upgrade the 3-4 clutch to a 7 or 8 friction pack, or "Z" pack.

Bumping up the line pressure with a ".500" Forward boost valve & a .296 Reverse boost valve is a very good idea too.

My 87 Vert trans during teardown for rebuild & blueprinting by me had only a .421" Forward boost valve.
It had a .296" reverse boost valve stock.

They make forward boost valves for a 700R4 up to .570".
I believe TCI sells them yet.

Good shift kit like a Transgo Jr I would call a must also for you application.

Borg Warner frictions are good & will work fine for you.

I prefer Alto Red Eagle frictions & Kolene treated steels.
But they are expensive to buy.
What I used in my 700R4 trans.

Be sure to use a Heavy Duty torque converter from a reputable supplier also.

$99 special converters are just asking for early on failure to occur.
