OK almost everything on Vettes are near to impossible to get to and the C beam bolts are no exception. The backs are somewhat accessible but WTF do ya use to get to the nuts on the top of the front ones? Any secrets here? Take out the driveshaft maybe? Double jointed multi reciprocating atomic powered laser 32 point racheting miracle box end radio controlled wrench? I can get that at Sears right?
Craftsman stubby crescent wrenches and a ton of patience.
I don't think you can get the driveshaft out without removing the Diff or C-beam first. Mine catches between the c-beam and the bottom of the car.
Hmmm dont have any stubby crescent wrenches but will buy em if necessary. All I have to do is to drop my exhaust to get the driveshaft out on my 4+3 but thats about it luckily. I guess I will try that and see if I have enough room for my hand and the wrench.
Regular box end wrench with an impact or regular socket on the bottom. Even if you can't hold the box end wrench it will spin over to the opposite side of the trans tunnel and you can still break the inner ones loose and get the nuts off first (inner = c-beam side of the pair, rear nut on front, front nut above the rear). Ones those are off the nut/wrench can be pulled down/will fall out. Then do the same for the other ones.
Putting the c-beam back on play with motor height to make it slide on easier and use a giant screwdriver to pry.
Thanks guys, I just couldnt get my island size paw and a wrench between the C beam and the tunnel. I went ahead and dropped the driveshaft, only took a few more minutes to gain the room I needed. Hopefully I got rid of the annoying pop when I take off from a stop.
