Default 96 lt1 air intake system?

96 corvette has lt1 in it, i have melrose headers long tube and exhaust system thinking bout putting mufflers on it or just eliminators? but idk yet, anyways would putting a cold air inttake help my car run better? on websites they claim to also increase horses as well, if so which would be better, the vortex rammer- http://www.zip-corvette.com/ProductDetails/ProductDetails.aspx?pid={b51cc27c-f8f1-4817-845b-efd7a17c6d34}&gid={dae18543-89e6-4788-8a00-ce04732ffd9f}&GroupName=Performance+Air+ Intake+Systems&pname=90-96+Vortex+Rammer+Cold+Air+System+(Black) &Referer=&Alias=&ptct=SGR-SR&CTitle=&
or should i go with the slp air intake-http://www.corvetteguys.com/c4-slp-cold-air-induction.html

if there are any better ones out their just let me know

You'll gain very little if anything from the popular LT1 "cold air" intake systems. If you feel you need a change, just cut the lid on your stock system.

Cut lid and a K&N filter is all you really need.Feeds my 500 flywheel hp just fine. There are prettier setups but I don't believe they will do anything but drain your wallet of $$.

Same for my 500. I cut the lid and run a stock paper filter. Runs just fine.

The stock air box, piping system, and throttle body will outflow any stock 350ci. LT1. Even with mods as long as you stay 350 very little to be gained. I run cut air lid and K&N, why, I got it cheap $100 for both.

I have the SLP claw filter. I like it but understand it's bling for the engine. The cut air lid is your cheapest and best performance gain.

okk well i wouldnt mind having a nice bling, but is the performance the same? if so then i wouldnt mind spending the extra for it. i thought cone filters take up more denser air, but i have the money for the slp no problem, but my main question is if i get the slp is it the same performance as the cut lid?

SLP = Cut lid = Stock lid in performance of stock LT 1.

You will not see a performance difference

My 92 has been over 127MPH in the 1/4 mile with just a cut lid/K&N on a stock air cleaner assembly....

Save your money and use it to do something worthwhile to the engine (like heads or cam) where it will have a real impact on your cars performance.
