If they are both l98 engines they will but the fuel rails have the inlet on the opposite side and there is no cold start valve on the 89. Switch the whole tpi from the vette.

The firebird may only be a 305 tpi.

Could be. If you have the vin# of the firebird the 8th digit is the engine code. 305 is f or e and the 350 was 8

In an email to me, he was looking for an engine block. I'm pretty sure he's got internals to put into it. And, I believe a 305 uses the same block with a shorter piston stroke, right?

its actually a 383 stroker, and i was just making sure it would fit. its got the tpi cast iron heads with a tpi aluminum intake, scat crank, etc. i figures i would take my vette tpi and put it on that intake. later down the road i plan on adding some nice aluminum heads(AFR or edlebrock) and miniram. im just looking forward to driving it.lol

Find out the block casting #. Mine (and other 1-pc RMS setups) are a 638. That includes both 2-bolt and 4-bolt main caps. I agree TPI vettes came with 2-bolt setup -- just like F-bodies.

The guys here will know the block ID for iron headed years. I'm betting that will be a 2-pc RMS. OTOH, someone building a 383 MIGHT have used a 4-bolt. Or they might have built a poor-man's 383 with a 400ci RA.

Also, are you saying someone was running a 383 with the stock TPI intake? Interesting....

How many miles on the rebuild? What do you know about it?

its a 4 bolt main..9.5:1 compression. 3.750 scat crank. 5.7 arp rods. the cast iron heads, the comp performance roller cam, basically everything were built to run good with tpi. i figure it would be a nice street machine..and not radical enough to have to upgrade to custom chip. throw some nice flowing slp runners on tpi intake, possible bbk throttle body and drive it.

Oh that's radical enough. Stroke changes, Cam changes, or injector changes are the biggest reason to retune IMO.

Sounds like a great replacement.
