Default Shifting too early ?

This test was made with the selector on "Drive" position , i have a SuperRam ,58mm TB,AFR195, 3200 Stall, B&M Shift Kit, 3.07 gears
Should i push the TVCable inside a bit , safely, without cooking the trans ? Thanks

Caleb, you would want to change your wide open shift points by lightening up the governor weights, not changing the tv cable. Since you are pretty close, and your part throttle points I assume are good, take off the cap and remove the governor. You can shave a little of the outside edges of the 2 weights (use a dremel or grinder). Clean, replace and test drive. You should be able to raise your wot points to where you want them to be. Willie

Sammy,

Adjust the TV cable on your 1987 Vette exactly as the 1987 FSM shows & directs you to.

No other way.

Change shift points like 383 Vette said to.

Changing governor weights & springs or with a Sonnex Blue governor gear assembly.

B&M 700R4 & Turbo 400 Governor recalibration kit is what many recommend here.

I've read about it and i don't want to shave them because it might affect low rpm shift points maybe ...i saw this "Superior Shift point Package" pack, any of you have use this?

No, but SUPERIOR makes very good transmission blueprinting parts too.

Have some of their items in my 87 vert 700R4 also.

For the most part, wot is determined by weights, part throttle by springs. The kits have weights that are a lot lighter than stock. You'll have to mess with both springs and weights. It takes a lot of time. Been there, done that. I would still recommend shaving the weights. It'll affect wot much more than part throttle.

Yes.

Its a good idea to check TV cable adjustment as part of your routine maintenance such as during oil changes or setting overhead valves.

Improperly adjusted TV cable & your C4 700R4 will protest badly & die an early death on you.

TV cable & plunger inside of valvebody is the brain that determines light throttle driving & WOT full line pressure for fast full power driving & racing.

Millions of 700R4's have died early on because of improperly adjusted TV cables.

Yes i know , i've seen a couple die !
I'm pretty sure its fine but i will double check it , i believe its fine because i'm always shifting very hard on it , it has taken a lot of abuse
since i overhauled it 3 years ago.
On "2" seems to get higher RPM's

Check TV adjustment anyway Sammy.

I recheck mine every time I change oil at 3,000 miles.

I check it not once but 3 times to be sure.

I took a hacksaw blade & scribed a permanent line along the protruding adjustment nose to always know where it was at when I installed my freshly rebuilt 700R4 by me.

If the TV cable is out adjustment badly,

Your 700R4 will die within 50 miles driving fast.

Likely 1 or 2 1/4-mile full power passes.

You drive fast like me too I know.

Better safe than sorry I say.
Recheck TV anyway.
You will sleep better at night that way.
