Will that help much to keep the tranny "alive" ? After my little probleme with overheating tranny that started to slip. I am going to install a big tranny cooler this weekend, to prevent that from happend again. My tranny works just fine now under "normal" driving, so I think I dont need a rebuild right now. And I am also going to install a tranny temp gauge, where do I put the censor, drill a hole in the tranny oil pan and put it there?
I have a 96 & it comes with a trans temp gauge from the factory... so I don't know the best place to mount a sensor.. however my trans used to run around 215 deg, & now with the cooler it runs around 165 deg & I have a 2800 converter..
i just ordered a tranny temp guage from jeg's. i have a 2800 stall converter & am installing a tranny cooler also. i was wondering the same thing (how to mount the sensor) couldnt i remove the pan...drill a hole...weld a nut for sensor & be done? has anyone done this before?
Is it a know probleme that the th700 get overheated and slipping when running at the track, or just a bit more extreme driving? Do I DARE to run my car at the track again, with my tranny cooler in place ?
And must I flush the system after i have installed the cooler, to prevent air in the system, or does it not work like that?
Regards
From what I've been told, heat kills a transmission.
I just ordered a trans cooler and temp gauge.
I don't even know what the sensor looks like, but I guess when I get it I'll figure something out.
I'm going to a 2800 stall and the converter is also smaller(in diameter) than stock.
