Default Torque Spec Request

Hi Guys,

My 96 LT4 currently has a collapsed lifter and I am going to be changing the whole set out for LS7 units.

Trouble is, the parts came in before the FSM I ordered. As it is my only car (for the moment), I need to get it running ASAP and can't afford to wait for the FSM.

Would one of you be kind enough to post up the torque specs for critical parts such as the rocker arm bolts and intake manifold, and anything else that might be critical?

Thanks a ton in advance!

My FSM for my 94 indicated the intake manifold bolts are to be tightened to 35ft lbs I believe. The LT4 intake is a bit different in design than the LT1, so you should either wait for the FSM or have an LT4 owner confirm. There is also a specific sequence to torque the bolts down in that must be followed.

I imagine you need to adjust the valve lash on the rocker arms so there will not be a specific 'torque' setting. Again, I don't have an LT4 so I am somewhat speculating.

There are various methods to set valve lash, this worked for me:

I found it easiest to do it while the intake manifold was off. That way I could watch the lifters as I rotated the engine. When I was sure a lifter was on the base circle of the cam I tightened the corresponding rocker arm down just enough so that I could not spin the pushrod between my fingers, then I added another 1/2 turn for preload. It seems to have worked perfectly, when I started the motor it idled smooth and did not have any top end ticking.

Fortunately, LT4's do not have adjustable lash. They simply have a torque spec.

I appreciate the response!
