Corvette Central has metal replacement gears. Easy to install. No cutting at all. Just push out one tiny roll pin, in the top of the shock shaft. Can do the fronts on the car.
I think you're refering to the metal gear on top of the shock, we are talking about fixing the plastic splined gear the slides over it that turns that metal one (the plastic one breaks) and is located inside the actuator.
Thank you Jim, I purchased some of those solder things yesterday. Did you use JB weld to hold them in place like the picture does?
I was questioning about cutting the actuators, it's hard to see where they actually cut them open in that link...
Jim... please give us some more details / pictures on this... I am very interested and would like to know where exactly to cut the actuator, and what I should seal them with. This was one of the coolest options on my car and I would like to get it working again.
I have a feeling my actuators are good, recently I was doing some cleaning and moved them around a bit. The FX3 suddenly worked for one trip. Next time I started the car, the SRC light came on again!
Thanks in advance!
Big Jim,
I am also very interested to know where exactly to cut the actuator.
There is a recessed band. Did you cut in the middle, or closer to ehter the wire end or the end that goes over the shock?
