Default Help me read my plugs

Hi i have a hesitation and exhaust pop at about 1700 rmp and it last to about 2100 rpm it is very noticalbe at cruise speed the car will start to buck badly. If i give it gas it smooths out or if i am below 1700 rpms it seems smooth. I do notice a miss at idle and through the rpm range. I pulled my plugs to see if they are good.

Your pics provided are not the best quality.

Background lighting is too dark or the flash was off on your digital camera.

From what I can see...........

The engine idle fuel mixture is extremely rich and WOT too.

A weak ignition spark may also be the culprit.

Need a bright blue high current ignition spark at all times of engine RPM power band operation for peak performance for light throttle & WOT driving in Your Vette.

They are old fouled and worn out a long time ago. You can't 'read' old plugs and unleaded fuel has it's own issues. At cruise you are not making enough cylinder pressure to make it even practical. You might tell if there is oil or coolant but that is about it. Do a full tuneup as it looks like the bloom has worn off the present one a very long time ago.

I looked at his profile Dave.

He has done performance engine mods & maybe a rebuild too.

He needs more details on his problem(s) I think to make a more accurate diagnosis.

You are an EFI Tuning God I know Dave.

I am a "Carb" guy............lol

They still work very nice...Carbs when dialed in right.
More maintenance but that is OK with me.

I was a carb guy from 1966 until 1984..LOL along with the occasional mechanical injection as well. It is a bear to get a good plug reading on unleaded fuel and even harder on old plugs. Given the cash to do it I would rather have a 59 convertale with dual 4brls and a 4 speed than my 91 coupe..

If you look at your second pic the side electrode is badly erroded on the one on the right and center electrode on both worn back on an angle. That takes a very long time as in they should have been changed a very long time ago. Plugs are a consumable item as is the majority of the ignition system don't change them if you don't want to but be prepared to do a lot of trouble shooting to see if you can get 10 more minutes out of them.

Waiting for that book you are writing Dave..........

Do it yourself EFI.

After knowing you on C4 for the past 1 year,

I personally would pay you at least $100.00 cash for a fresh printed copy hot off the press.

You are an Asset to all of us on C4 & the entire auto racing world.

You Are One of the Best Ever.

Bar None.

Having a C4 & a 1959 C1 Convertible would be "TOP JIMMY....He's The King" Dave..........

I drove a daul quad 1958 roadster maybe 8 or 10 years back.

The owner wanted me to drive it........

I took my ex with me.

Tami happened to be in the small service station shop that day also.
She was a banker.
Loan officer.
She was a long legged blonde with blue eyes that wore high heels all the time.
When she walked with those high heels she sounded like a horse in a slow gallop... LOL

I think the owner of that 1958 Corvette enjoyed seeing her...she was smoking hot.
And looking up skirt if he could.

I did not care,
I drove that 1958 C1 around in the sunshine & no top that afternoon with my long haired blonde ex.
I ignored her.........on that drive.

Having a ball driving that Red & white scalloped body C1 283 daul quad 4- speed C1.

Awesome Corvette too.
