Hey everyone. I don't know if this is normal or not but when I have my wheels and steering wheel in the middle and both are straight, if I turn it to the right and then back to the left past the middle of the steering wheel, there's a slight click right when the steering wheel is passing the middle. It also clicks going the other way. You can't feel it very well when your driving fast but it's noticable when you're driving slow or stopped. I'm hoping that it's just something that corvettes do to let you know you're wheels are straight.
most likely it it the "u"joint on the steering shaft of some people call it a knuckle. I too have this problem and the only cure is to replace the knuckle but parts are not available .I checked into this about 2 years ago. if someone turns the wheel while the hood is open you can see the actual problem while looking at the steering shaft. I tried to lubricate this but it did not work.seems to be a common problem. I have a 95
Should it be a problem I should worry about right away or can I keep driving without it getting any worse or have the steering fail? Will the clicking eventually get harder and louder?

My steering "clicking" noise has been the same for about the last 5 years since I bought it. It has not gotten worse yet. It is annoying but after awhile you will get used to it. I would have a corvette mechanic check it out or someone who is very familiar with the C4.IMO if it gets real bad you will know about it as the click will be louder. Awhile ago someone used a lubricant made by "Wurth Corp" to quiet the noise and claimed it was much better. The lubricant was special because it was thin when you sprayed it in the knuckle then it would thicken up.I just tried a few different lubricants and it did not work. You can use google search to get the name of this lube. I forgot the name but if you find it and post it I may remember the name manufactured by worth Corp or industries.:
