Default 1985 supercharged

Thanks for welcoming me to your forum, I just bought at auction a 1985 that is supercharged with an accel computer 6 speed trans and borla exhaust, can I run this on pump gas with no issues? I have not even seen the car in person but price is good enough that I could not pass it up. I know it is built by a local vocational school and everything by the pics look brand new, it has been sold by the school to me and by the looks of the tires has not been driven since mods. Please send an e-mail and I can respond with pics so maybe get more info to help me out. I really like this car but still may have an interest in selling in the near future. Help is much appreciated

Upload them to a website like photobucket or imageshack, and then post the link here.

If it has 32 psi of boost,

No 93 octane pump gas won't work too long without detonating & dropping the crankshaft on the ground playing.

VP C16 or better race gas required at $15 per gallon or more.

That looks like a ProCharger Label..... plus you have a Superram intake. I can see you have headers too. Provided its tuned right and you have the right cam/head combination on it.... it has the potential to be a real strong motor.

So...can you say any more about this vocational school?

Just curious.

Did you get any specs with it such as cubic inches, type of pistons, compression ratio, expected boost psi, intercooled and has it been custom dyno tuned. Are you or do you have a dyno shop in your area that is knowledgeable and experienced on boosted applications???

Unless you are confident that this is a dialed in turn key application, the first thing that I would do is to take it to an experienced boost application chassis dyno shop and do an "easy goes it" dial in to get the A/F, timing and potential glitches worked out. I would even consider starting out on a boost level in the 5-7 psi range then consider more later once confortable with everything. Just my 2 cents having tuned and owned many custom boost applications.

Why not contact the Vocational School about details of the car? I'm sure some of the students that worked on the car would be glad to speak to you about the project.

Looks like someone put the time into it.

need to get the specs on the build

done right, you can run it on pump and it will run strong

done wrong, you'd be lucky to get it to the gas station

Be sure to repost in the forced induction section.

I bought the car site unseen but went down to the school today, they did not build the car there or do anything at all to it. The car was donated to the school four years ago and only used it for the students for visual observation I imagine a rich tycoon or maybe a police impound donated it. I will be picking it up this week and go through everything on it but from what I seen it was done right. If I get it tuned would they be able to let me know if the car has the correct cam and internals without tearing it down. School is Boces in Fairport NY

I didn't notice before I bought it but when I went down there it does have a roll cage inside. When I get this tuned right and running how much would you say it is worth?

Supercharger system is an early C4 intercooled D1 ProCharger system. It is a good system if installed and tuned properly. The install of the DFI and the random wires it what would cause me to be concerned.

Good Luck!
