Shifter ****

Hope I'm asking in the right place. I have an '84 with the automatic transmission. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to take the shifter **** off. I want to replace the leather boot as mine is in pretty bad shape. Thanks.

the little push button prys off then under it you find a spring C clip around the shaft remove it and it will pull off with a little twisting
