Having problems with new water pump install, Need help asap...........Please Read
I just got through installing a new water pump as the bearings were out on mine. When i asked which coolant to use, ya'll told me to stay with the green so i went to autozone to take back my orange and they told me that i had to use the orange stuff because i was using an aluminum water pump.....So i take my orange coolant back home, fill it up and start her up.......and i get a code 15. (Engine coolant sensor -circuit low or open circuit) and i look around and realize that i had forgotten to tighten the upper radiator hose back so i tightened it and unplugged the battery to reset the code. I started it up again and the code is still there, and i notice that my coolant is getting alot hotter than in normally does, ie the oil temp was still on lo and the coolant was already at 190. It would continue up to about 225 where it seemed to level off. What did i do? Did i mix the coolant wrong? should i have used the green coolant? and will i be okay to drive to work today?

I'm not sure when they started using the orange but my 92 still uses the green. My guess is you might need a very good flush and refill because it is probably mixed with some green.I hope this helps.

Orange coolant has nothing to do with the code 15. You need to purge all the air out of the cooling system. Don't forget to turn on the heater when you do this. After it cools off, check the level. It will probably be low. Fill it up and run it with the radiator cap off. After it fully warms, add coolant as necessary until the radiator is completely full. Then fill the overflow reservoir to the "Full" mark. Put the cap back on and let it cool. Check the level and repeat as necessary.

I think you need to burp your system. Not sure about the LT-1, but is there a fitting on top the thermostat housing to let the air out?
Orange stuff should be fine. The only thing is that you do need to make sure you got all the green stuff out of there. Flush it out thoroughly. If you have orange and green mixed, you loose the advantages of orange. But it will not hurt your car.
You must have a air buble in your system or a lead disconnected.

Make sure your Stat is working OK
Make sure all air is purged from the system
Engine at Normal Operating temp
Disconnect Coolent temp switch
Ignition on (engine stopped)
Check Voltage between harness connector terminals (Should be over 4 volts)
Check resistence across sensor (should be less then 1000 ohms) If not replace sensor
If voltage across connector terminals is below 4 volts
check for an open in one of the two wires.
If wires are ok...Could have a faulty ECM

Assuming you have no leaks you need to burp it several times perhaps. As RPM comes up it is likely pulling more coolant. Note the sensor is near the top of the radiator.
Run the engine at say 2,000rpm and watch the coolant level. It will drop when the stat opens. Then fill the radiator and replace the radiator cap. Cycle RPM a bit, set to 2,000rpm and remove the cap to check level. Repeaat till the level holds.

My 92 has 2 bleed valves, 1 at the thermostat and another below the throttle body. Run the engine with the bleed screws open until you get a steady stream of fluid out of both........

To release air from system: open the radiator cap (while engine is COOL) and leave off until completely full, start motor and let it warm up enough for coolant to circulate (it may rise up a bit before circulation is going, then the level will drop) and fill radiator completely to proper level (fill the reserve to warm level position, also).
