Oh! Since I'll probably be grinding off the rivets, what are the specs for them or can I/should I replace them with nuts and bolts and be done with rivets?
I went with moog. The moog kits come with hardware for installation. I'm sure other manufacturers do the same.

Replacements are attached with bolts, should be included with the joint.
Got the joints in the other day but waited until some clearer weather to start doing anything. Ground the heads off the rivets but having a lot of trouble getting these rivets out of their holes. Any advice on how to get these out a little easier?

I have a ball joint grease boot with a pinhole in it that's only going to get worse. My questions are:
Is there a how-to or "sticky" anywhere about this operation?
Is it even worth all the hassle and down-time to do this myself, or should I just take the car to someone (that also does alignments)? What is the cost?
If you need to replace you ball joints because they are worn then disregard this but, if the ball joints are fine and its just the boot that is the concern you could remove the dust boots and install some energy suspensiom poly dust boots.... just a thought.
If you do replace the ball joints I found moog was pretty good quality when I did mine.

I just replaced the ball joints in my '90 this spring. They are a huge PITA to remove. I needed to grind and drill them out. It took a very long time. Be patient, you'll get them out.
This is the route i'm going....Must easier to repalce control arms and they have OEM GM balljoints as well as new OEM control arm bushings. Price-wise, it may be cheaper then buying MOOG units and replacing by yourself.
That's $600.00 for control arms, all four Moog joints are $200.00 I have done ball joints on alot of cars and a ball joint press for bottom and rivet removeal should not cost $400.00.

It's been 6 years, probably too late to change that person's mind.
