Default when do you need a high flow fuel pump?

I was wondering at what point in time do you need to go to a high flow fuel pump for a '91?

At around 275 RWHP, my stock pump could not keep up at WOT.

Seems like your pump must have been weak or defective. I'm over 300rwhp and still running stock. The only problem is when the tank gets below 1/4 full.

Plus, I don't recall seeing lots of pumps being changed out for all these 350-400rwhp builds in the last few years.

I have heard 400 hp quoted quite a few times as the point for a higher output fuel pump..I replaced mine with a Walbro 255gph but only because it was 22 years old and the price wasn't much more then a stock pump...WW

Walbro 255 is the way to go.

with JackDidley.....400 HP at the crank or more should require the higher flow pump.

I think most people do it as an insurance policy (and bet most stronger motors have done it in advance) and walbro 255lph is good choice which is a breeze to install with the racetronix kit.
