Default Are you using a wideband? Step inside please.

I see a wideband in my future and I'm curious as to what guys with our cars have done.

I'm leaning toward incorporating the gauge itself into my A pillar pod to replace the existing NB gauge already there and running the other lead into ECM connector D8 so I can log with Tunerpro using a 165WB ads. Am I on the right track? And, would it be best to weld a new bung for the W/B in my passenger side collector to supplement the N/B on my driver's side or just replace the N/B?

Pros & Cons? Thanks!

I just installed mine in my 86 in a new bung on the pass side. Still trying to find a good spot for the gauge (thinking about one of the center vents - no AC anyway).
Trying to figure a way to get it into the datastream for Datamaster - there has to be a way and there is some info out there.
I want to keep both to monitor both sides and thought about getting another to replace the drivers side and use the aux output for the ECM (but that may be overkill).

Wide bands don't last long in continuous service. I would recommend a second bung. I use a NGK AFX wide band and use the analog output with hp tuners.

Hi Tim

I had my WB and NB in opposite collectors, but last year moved them both into my Cat delete test pipe, so they would both measure the same mix.
I am curious too, if I could tap into an open port on ECM and log it.

I have heard some of the F-body guys using the AC high side sensor line and running the wideband 0-5volt reference through that line to the stock computer. That way you can log it with datamaster.

Hey Dan, long time no talk

For the narrow scope of us that use Tunerpro and tune with a '165 ECM, the solution/fix looks pretty straightforward..........here's a link to a 3rd Gen thread: http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/di...6e-linear.html I don't know about other ECMs or logging programs, but I bet there's something similar.

Dan........... you're the man when it comes to ID-ing vague little parts Can you tell me what the specs are on our 2 ECM bracket mounting bolts? I can't find mine to save my life & I can't even find them in my parts CD

Thanks for the link, Tim.
I'll dig up that info after work.

As far as I can tell, Datamaster may be able to use the same sort of setup as explained on 3rd gen. Have to figure out what dataline to look at.
I had to take a break - it was twisting my brain in knots.

Looking in my parts fiche, I found a part #, but looking at pic online, didn't look correct.
Maybe the number is wrong ?
It says M5 X .8 X 16. That would be close to what I recall the size being.
We are talking about the two 10mm head machine screws that hold the ECM into sleeve, right ?

I've been using Innovates LM-1 the last 3 years. Its a permanent install. Seems to have been pretty accurate. Its connected to the ECM as well. With my ecm I had to run a seperate ground so the ECM's reading would correspond to the LM-1 controller. Remember the WB is sending the 5 volt signal to the ecm not the other way around. You have to be sure its programed according to your needs or it will not read correctly through the ecm.

Anyways I datalog with it though my program. LM-1 controller sits up under the dash on the drivers side. Then I have a seperate gauge to see the AFR while driving. Its located on a piller gauge along with a NB gauge above it. I have pics and videos on my photobucket account if you want to look.

Great info thanks.........I think that's what I'll be doing! Is there a link to your account and would you mind my picking your brain if this comes to be? To summarize: you have both sensors; did you use pin D8 and are you using T/P; and did you run a redundant ground from your ECM? Thanks

Here's what happens when you don't connect the seperate ground
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9baO4Hhemmo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6IoGEptagM

sorry these ones are on youtube. But both places just search user slrvette an you'll find a ton of vids.

I'm always willing to help if I can. I can't tell you exactly where to connect on your ecm. My ecm is the EBL so the wiring schmatic is different

I don't recall where I started and found the part number, but it led me to a parts diagram page. Like I said, the part number googled brought up a U bolt stud, which I think is for mounting the sleeve.
Looking over the pic again, I can see now the fastener, but it does not list a part number. Look just right of #14 in the pic, and you will see the bolt.

Do you have one of the bolts. Should be easy to match at the parts store. M5 or M6

If you don't, my lower panel is off, so I could pull one and use my pitch gauge.

Exactly. The sensor controller rarely goes bad, the wideband 02 doesn't like continuous operation. I use hptuners I my LS1 camaro.
