Brake Lights stuck???
Okay, cars been down since last July. I hooked the battery back up to pop out a CD and the brake lights are on. They won't go out either. I've even tried pulling back on the pedal. I had this problem once before and once I started the car and work the brakes they went out. Well, right now, I don't want to start the car and take the chance of ruining the block or something. (see sig) Should I just go ahead and replace the switch? Is this a sign it's going out or could there be another problem. Is it because I can't releave the pressure since I can't start it?

Yes, sounds like a sticking switch. The only other thing it could be is a short to ground. You can eliminate that by disconnecting the switch and see if the lights go out.

Okay. Just read the manual and maybe I'm misintrupted this.
The switch assembly is positioned over the brake pedal and will release vacuum to servo and open electrical circuit when the brake pedal is depressed.
Does this mean if there is absolutely no vacuum, that the circuit could stay open? Like it is now? Or is the switch not reliant on vacuum?
