ok I was going to change my brake pads on Sunday, but poopie has hit the fan today. The brakes are now grinding the rotor and I dont know if it will be salvagable. So I have called every dealership anywhere near me and none have replacement rotors available. What are my choices? I only have 1 car and am borrowing a friends car and he is taking mine b.c he only drive 10-20 miles a day and I drive around 100. So I dont have a choice but to drive it so it will only get worse. What can I do about this today?

Re: NEED HELP!!!!! (MBVette)
Get rotors from autozone, napa, pep boys, etc.
EDIT: you will need to know if you have the 12" or 13" front rotors. Check RPO codes, J55 is 13" front rotors. If you have 13" remember that their is a left and a right; the 12" are the same for both sides.
Obviously you need new rotors, but you can get by a while longer by replacing just the pads. Of course they will be ruined in short order, but should get you by until you can get some new rotors...then new pads at the same time. I've done this in just such a fix as yours.
well since I could not find any place near me that had the rotors, I called Baer and ordered a set of 12'' eradispeed rotors and they are being overnighted w/ saturday delivery. Cost me some money but I got a good rotor out of it. And I must say Bill at Baer is great to deal with.
you might want to check if a local machine shop can turn the rotors for you. I thought mine were gone, but they still made specks when it was all done. It was $24 at Napa compared to I think ~$100 for new rotors.
