Default 1989 headlight

My car has what I call droopy eye..
All of the sudden only one headlight opens and stays opened the other opened then slowly closed. the motor has a cap that looks like a old fashioned metal pop bottle cap only plastic. I have been unable to adjust the headlight to fix this problem. does this mean I have to replace the headlight motor or gears?
I found the correct motor (two plug) in the parts but I'm not parting with 275.00 if I can fix it with gears or an adjustment.
Please any assistance would be great. Thank you

After my post I continued to check for more information that the Forum had to offer. I found an abundance of info from Hooked on Vettes. Wish me luck.

Does it happen when your car is approaching a good looking car?

It's time to replace the nylon bushing and gear inside the light motor. A nice afternoon job in your case I would do both, one at a time of course, use the other lens as a template if you get stuck with reassembly.
