The ECM starts out in open loop mode. When the car warms up, it tries to switch to closed loop mode. If the O2 sensor is not putting out the correct voltage, the ECM falls back to closed loop mode and sets a code. You need to check for malfunction codes.
The codes are probably tuned out or the check engine bulb is out on the dash. Your car is running in open loop all the time. Probably you are getting pretty ugly gas mileage.

Mine looked like this after I bought it, car never went closed, stank, just kept putting out a nearly fixed voltage somewhere in the middle of the range. Never gave me a code though, so you cant rely on those to tell you if it's bad. Need to run a scan or tap a multimeter into the line.
Gone as in broken, or gone as in somebody put a pipe plug where it should be?

It is no where to be found!!! Someone before me cut a section of pipe out and welded in a new peice.

Then you are staying in open loop running in the limp home mode.
For the smart guys: A bowling buddy bought a Rustang that had all 02 sensors gone, replaced by some type of simulation device. Could that be the situation here?

Then you can either get your local muffler shop to add an O2 bung for you OR upgrade your exhaust system with a new high flow converter and new pipes like this:
