Hi everyone. I was wondering why alot of owners have faulty analog gauges, especially the temperature gauge. I almost freaked out when the temperature gauge was almost to 260 degrees, but I learned on this forum that the analog temperature gauge can be faulty and that I should check the digital gauge. Here are some questions that I have. Why does the temperature gauge fail and why does the temperature of the car shown on the analog gauge and digital gauge? What should I look at on the digital gauge, the one that says "Auto" or "Cool". And are the other analog gauges faulty also? Thanks, Ed
The "Auto" mode displays transmission temperature, "Cool" is engine coolant temp. Read your owners manual for an explanation of why the analog and digital gauges do not agree.
Has anyone heard of someone having luck replacing the sending unit for the analog gauge and making an improvement in the reading?
My analog indication gauge works pretty well as it is pretty close to my digital indication. Of course it is not dead on because they are really measuring two different locations with different temperatures. But all in all I would say "working properly".
I guess you can always check the resistance of the sending unit per the chart in the FSM.
