86 vette windshield wiper motor

Default 86 vette windshield wiper motor
How do you remove the gears from the windshield wiper motor? I have the FSM but im still confused on how to remove the gears. I was able to pop out the electrical connector. Does it have anything to do with that tab that sticks up on the other side of the plastic gears.

as cheap as those are, you would be ahead on agravation to just get another one.

I forgot to mention that its not broken im just tryinng to powder coat the unit and i cant get the gears to come out.
