I have a CC XF262 w/1:6 roller tips in my otherwise stock 86e.
Yep that works.......just barely. Your lift on that particular cam with the stock ratio rockers is in the .450 range and that's fine. The OP is wanting to go to .488. I think absolute spring bind is about .505 and the .488 lift is going to be on the ragged edge.

Although I certainly understand the bucks being tight, IMHO he would be better off finding a set of springs that will allow a little more leeway. He's not going to see a big performance gain with only the cam so I must assume that he wants his car to have a nice "cammed" sound and that's fine too. Just do it safely.

If you can't afford the proper springs right now then I suggest you keep searching the classifieds until you can do it better. If you think springs are expensive you should try an engine when a spring breaks.

I was trying to be a bit more tactful but I'm glad you stepped up. Sometimes young folk only want results with no thought of the consequences. You said it right ...... Thanks.
