2020 Corvette of the Year Finalist (appearance mods)
C4 of Year Winner (appearance mods) 2019
If that's it, leave it be. See how it runs. Decide if you need a tune later. When you swap injectors and manifolds, then a tune will be more beneficial.
I would do some other mods to the car before you chip it. If you run a new tune every time you put some new stuff on it, it's going to become a pain and even get a little expensive.
I would do;
Heads
port and polish
fuel injectors
fuel pump?
Maybe even get an over-sized TPi top end (summit racing has one I think...)
You know, the little more than basic stuff. You can do some stuff yourself and most of the parts (except for the new over-sized TPi intake system of course) are fairly inexpensive. Then, go ahead and get a CUSTOM tune from a Corvette specialty shops. Be careful with the tune by mail and definately don't touch the dealerships.
Whoa...watch that cam. I think the L98 had around 430 lift and the stock springs may be good to .480. I believe you're getting into spring bind with the cam you chose.
Need the rest of the specs on that cam. Sounds familiar of an old school grind that may be way too big for your TPI.
Dont cam these up like you would a carbd motor.
I didn't have a computer when I was young, driving my first car and knew very little about how they worked. I believe that we all have been there at least once in our lives. In 1969 I thought it would be a good idea to put dual 4 barrels on a stock 289 Ford Fairlane 500. When I stomped the go pedal from a 20 MPH roll the car would fall on it's nose, slap my head on the steering wheel and get slower before it accelerated.......very slowly.
That was my second car. My first was a 1964 170 cu in Falcon. I tried to make it sound "badder" by ramming a screwdriver through the muffler. Well, all it did was whistle. I then ran two pieces of 1" conduit instead of the stock pipe and muffler. I KNOW for a fact that it sounded like a trumpet or a trombone and had no power. You could hear me coming for a mile.
My 1969 Charger R/T (3rd car) I put a new intake on it and a 1050CFM Holley 3 barrel carb on it. I also got it out of time when putting the distributor back in the new manifold. With the hood up and a friend madly pumping the gas it decided to finally fire. Boy, did it fire. A ball of fire about as big as a hot air balloon shot out of the carb, rolled across the open hood and chased me halfway down the block.
I'll give this OP the same benefit of the doubt and assume that he's not been there and done that with the refrigerator magnet and t-shirt to prove it. How many others have made bone headed mistakes like me?
I would wait. Free parts are great but there are certain things that my Motto of Upgrading (upgrade part A, break part B, upgrade part B, break part C, etc) doesn't work with. TPis tend to be a little temperamental. Do the whole valvetrain at the same time. Makes things easier.
I would keep my eyes open for something like a Hotcam. Used cams like these can be had for little money on this site and other Vette sites..Try 3rd generation web site also..A used roller cam is usually fine and this size cam is great for the street ...WW

I have a CC XF262 w/1:6 roller tips in my otherwise stock 86e.
Just a good tune and it runs great. The idle doesn't lope, but it sounds "Corvette Correct".
Great low/mid range. Falls off like a TPI should above 5K.
