Sounds like it would be beneficial to modify the engine as needed to run on pump gas.
Its in the process of being tuned. The AF ratio is a little high. I am getting a little spark knock. I want to run better gas etc until tuner resolves issues. You cant always here knock, and being a rock out in the middle of the ocean doesnt afford easy access to tuners etc. Takes time.
And the engine is modified, very modified, its the tune not the engine that needs a little refining.
Most of us running 9.0:1 to 12:1 static compression in our sbc powered C4's.
TORCO works nice 1 quart per 10 gallons of 93 octane.
Makes around 98 motor octane fuel from what I recall.
1 quart of Torco added to 5 gallons of 93 octane makes about 110 motor octane fuel.
1 quart of Torco added to 20 gallons of 93 octane pump gas makes 95 motor octane fuel.
The later I use in my 87 Vert.
Stops all pinging & WOT detonation.
Now if You have a SB-2 Headed small block chevy of 430 ci or more & have a static compression ratio of 18.0:1, Turn as high as 10,000RPM's, and pushing around 950 flywheel horsepower...
Fick No ...................the Torco will not work for You.
Go buy a 55 gallon drum of VP C16 Racing gas rated at 118 motor octane.
At around $15 per gallon or $825.00 you You true High Motor Octane Fuel.
Don't cut the CHIT with pump gas.
Run it straight.

If you can't wait until the motor is properly tuned, then go buy some 110 or higher and do some mixing. It is cheap insurance to protect your investment (Motor) until it is tuned. Pay now or later it your choice.

Are you tuned for that? How long have you been doing that?
Probably not SOP.
SOP? Done it for 2 years or so. Tune it myself but it needs another chip for 100% E85 and larger than 55# inj. It does run 7.6 in the 1/8 on 93. My wifes Expedition runs it ok too using 87/E85
Be careful with this. Even cars that are supposed to run E85 are supposed to have a tank of regular gas every 3 fills. They provide ZERO lubrication to seals. Drop a gasket in rubbing alcohol once a day for an hour and see how long it takes to be completely dry. You'll do some serious damage with E85.
Anyways....
Octane booster?
Get better fuel. Most of that stuff is just injector cleaner with a fancy label.

I have used "Octane Supreme 130" in my BBC boat engine. I consider it "for emergency use only". You might check it out. Other than that, the race track has various flavors in the pump.
Race gas can be shipped by the drum. If you don't have it in Hawaii, you can get it. Just a matter of how bad you want it. $$$$

Yeah,,,if you run that mix often, a custom tune would be in preferable. Sounds like you would know stoimetric point would change because of it.

I left a piece of cheap old non FI fuel hose in a bowl of E85 for several months. No changes in the condition of the hose. Finally threw it out. Been about 13000 mile since the switch. So far, so good.
If ya'll find a way to go fast and is cheep let us all in on it,, after 40 years fast will cost big money..No bottle of anything going to make much power.. Can't go to high on OCT. motor has to be built for it will go boom , hole in piston something...
